Congratulations to Reza Amouzandeh on his first-author publication in ACS Biomaterials, a flagship journal in the field. Reza made substantial contributions to biomaterials synthesis and characterization, in vitro cell culture, and the quantitative analysis of cell behavior. His work opens new opportunities to exploit surface wettability to modulate cell growth, advancing bioengineered protein-based scaffolds for airway regeneration.

In addition to Reza's contribution, this work is the result of interdisciplinary collaboration with Morgan Hawker and Mina Abdelmessih from California State University, Fresno, CA, and across multiple colleges at the University of Iowa.

We are grateful for the financial support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, an NSF EPSCoR Chemurgy 2.0 Seed Grant, and the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust.
